DANCE TEAM RECRUITING
Thank you for your interest in Loyola University Maryland and our Dance Team Program! We are always looking for confident, talented, and passionate dancers to be a part our Dance Team each year. Members of the dance team are responsible for representing our school and team across campus in the classroom, at events, within the Baltimore Community, and beyond! While being a member of our team is exciting and provides a great deal of opportunities, it is also a significant time commitment that requires exceptional time management and work ethic.
We are currently recruiting for our 2025-2026 team and are open to engaging with interested students throughout their college selection process. Below you will find information on how we will be searching for dancers, as well as how you can get in contact with our coaches should you have an interest.

HOW ARE WE FINDING DANCERS?
There are a variety of ways in which we will be looking for dancers who may have an interest in attending Loyola University Maryland and want to be a part of our team. They may include:
- Various dance combines and prep events:
- The Northeast Dance Connect Combine
- Varsity Spirit Combines
- Tribe 99 Combine
- The Loyola Dance Team College Prep Clinics
- Local Dance Competitions for studios
- Local Dance Competitions for high schools
- Working with Admissions
- University Open Houses and Orientations
HOW TO GET RECRUITED
In order to let us know you are serious about attending Loyola University Maryland and being a member of the Dance Team, you can:
- Complete our Recruitment Form
- Schedule a time to come visit us! You can email our coaches directly or send us a DM to schedule a time to come visit our campus. Your visit can be in conjunction with a formal campus visit reserved through Undergraduate Admissions, or can be an entirely separate trip if you are local and able to come to campus easily. NOTE: If you have already applied to Loyola, you may request to visit a practice or sit with us during a game.

When should I start inquiring about my interest in the Loyola University Maryland Dance Team?
If you are a HS freshmen, sophomore, or junior, start attending clinics or combines either hosted by the Dance Team or events you know the Dance Team will be present at. The sooner you begin your inquiry process, the better relationships you will build with the coaching staff, university personnel, and current team members.
If you are a senior, hopefully you have already met with our coaches or reached out to them! If you have not, you should do so as soon as possible.

If I am an interested student, when should I complete the recruitment form?
You should only submit the recruitment form if you are a junior or senior in high school. If you are a senior in high school who has already applied to Loyola, submit your recruitment form ASAP.
What are the admissions application deadlines for Loyola?

What are the academic requirements in order to be a member of the Dance Team?
In order to be seriously considered as a member of the Loyola University Maryland Dance Team, students must be accepted to Loyola University Maryland's main Evergreen Campus. Acceptance to other Loyola institutions are not transferrable to Loyola University Maryland.
All prospective dance team members should meet general university academic standards in regards to GPA and standardized test scores as they are indicated from admissions. We do not select students beyond these guidelines.
Current team members are expected to maintain a cumulative and term GPA of a 2.0 or higher in order to remain eligible.

What are some attributes you are looking for in dancers interested in being a part of the Dance Team?
We are looking for dancers who have strong technical dance backgrounds and more mature quality of movement or an understanding of the necessity to develop a mature style of movement as they transition to college dance. In addition to a strong dance background and high level of performance quality, we are looking for individuals who are confident, team-oriented, and personable as we are often asked to engage with fans, alumni, or donors during our team performances. All of these characteristics are critical in maintaining our close, family-oriented team culture which ultimately is the foundation of our team success each year.

Can I submit a letter of recommendation?
You can- and we encourage you to! A letter of recommendation can be uploaded at the bottom of your recruitment form. We do prefer that letters of recommendation only be submitted with your recruitment form and ask that you do not directly email them to us.
How will I know if my recruitment form has been received?
Our coaches will screen submitted forms periodically as they are received. We will communicate next steps to those dancers we believe will be a strong addition to our team. Our coaches will respond to all questionnaires they receive after thorough review of the information submitted. Please note this process can be lengthy and sufficient time will be needed.
What else can I do to let the coaching staff know I am serious about being a member of the Dance Team?
Constant communication with our coaches and regular engagement with our team on social media will be extremely helpful in letting us know how serious you are about being a part of our team! Meet with our coaches and stay connected with them as you work through your application and decision-making process! We put an emphasis on communication and transparency with our current team members, and would expect the same out of prospective students.
